Rockets rally to tie match before falling on final singles court

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Toledo men's tennis fell 4-3 to Mid-American Conference opponent Western Michigan in a match that came down to the final singles battle on Sunday afternoon in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The Broncos took a 1-0 lead after grabbing the doubles point with 6-3 wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts.

In singles play, Western Michigan took the first match on the No. 1 court in straight sets to take 2-0 lead. The Rockets (6-6, 0-2 MAC) then tied the match, 2-2, thanks to a straight-set victory by Joshua Mackey on the No. 5 court and a three-set win by Matias Olivero on the No. 3 court.

Charlie Snow fell on the No. 6 court in a three-set match as Western Michigan regained the lead, 3-2. On the No. 4 court, Lucas Britez evened the match, 3-3, with a 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 win. Western Michigan clinched the match victory with a three-set win on the No. 2 singles court over Poonthong Komolpisut.

Toledo will host Buffalo on Saturday, March 15 for its first home Mid-American Conference match. First serve from Shadow Valley Tennis Club is set for 1:00 p.m.
