Box Score OXFORD, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team scored a season-high nine runs to secure a 9-7 victory over Miami for its first Mid-American Conference victory of the season at McKie Field on Sunday.
Â
The Rockets (5-9, 1-2 MAC) hit three early home runs, including a pair of two-run blasts by sophomore
Luke Walton, and took the lead for good with a three-run fifth inning. Toledo's bullpen shut down bases-loaded opportunities from the RedHawks (7-8, 2-1 MAC) in the fifth and eighth innings, limiting Miami to one run in both of those chances.
Â
Quoting Head Coach Rob Reinstetle:
"Really proud of the way we competed today. We really needed that win and I'm happy with how the bats responded today. There's a fine line to winning. Yesterday didn't go our way, but we were resilient and got it done today."
