Toledo looks to build on strong start to conference play
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team will travel on the road this weekend for Mid-American Conference matchups against Northern Illinois and Western Michigan. The Rockets will play the Huskies on Friday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m. (12:00 p.m. CT) in DeKalb, Ill. Toledo will then head to Western Michigan on Sunday, March 30 with first serve at 1:00 p.m. in Kalamazoo, Mich.
ABOUT THE ROCKETS
Toledo owns an overall record of 9-4 (2-1 MAC) after sweeping Bowling Green on Sunday, 7-0. Freshman Jacklynka Scholten moved to 11-0 in singles play and 3-0 in MAC play after winning in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) on the No. 2 court. Catherine Rhegness clinched her seventh-straight singles win against the Falcons to move to 7-0 during her freshman campaign.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Northern Illinois enters the match with a 15-4 (2-1 MAC) record. The Huskies went 1-1 last weekend, falling to Ball State, 5-2, and defeating Western Michigan, 6-1. The Rockets and the Huskies last met on April 12, 2024 with Toledo posting a 6-1 win.
Western Michigan enters the match with a 10-8 (1-2 MAC) record. The Broncos defeated Eastern Michigan, 4-3, and fell to Northern Illinois, 6-1, last weekend. WMU will play at Eastern Michigan on Friday before hosting Toledo on Sunday. The Rockets and Broncos last met on March 16, 2024 with Toledo sweeping 7-0.
