Rockets earn wins on all six singles courts against Bowling Green on Sunday
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team swept Bowling Green, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at Twos Athletic Club for their second straight Mid-American Conference win. Freshman Annika Munson clinched match point with her straight-set victory on the No. 5 singles court.
The Rockets (9-4, 2-1 MAC) took the point in doubles play after earning victories on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts. Jacklynka Scholten and Neha Guru grabbed the 6-3 win on the No. 1 court, while Annika Munson and Jone Ibanez clinched the doubles point for Toledo with a 6-2 victory on court No. 3.
In singles play, Gaby Rondon got the Rockets started by winning her match in straight sets on the No. 3 court to put Toledo up 2-0. Jone Ibanez and Munson picked up wins on the No. 4 and No. 5 courts, respectively, to clinch the victory for the Rockets and take a 4-0 lead.
Freshman Catherine Rhegness took down Bowling Green's Brynn Chaffee on the No. 6 singles court, 6-0, 6-3 to remain undefeated in singles play (6-0) and extended Toledo's lead, 5-0. Scholten earned her win on the No. 2 court in straight sets with a second set tiebreaker, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) to give Toledo the 6-0 advantage. She is now 11-0 in singles play during her freshman campaign.
Play concluded with Moutama battling for a three-set victory on the No. 1 singles court, 6-4, 0-6, 6-4, to complete the sweep of the singles courts for the Rockets.
