TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's tennis team fell to Youngstown State, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at the YSU Tennis Center in Youngstown, Ohio.
Youngstown State (5-0) grabbed a win on the No. 1 doubles court with a 6-2 win over
Poonthong Komolpisut and
Joshua Mackey. The Rockets (2-3) took a win on the No. 3 doubles court when
Matias Olivero and
Lucas Britez defeated William Rassat and Viktor Van Craenenbroeck 6-3. The Penguins took the decisive doubles point with a win on the No. 2 court, 6-4.
In singles play, Komolpisut evened the score, 1-1, with a 6-1, 6-0 win on the No. 1 singles court. The Penguins took a 3-1 lead when they won matches on the No. 5 and No. 3 singles courts over
Lucas Britez and
Cole Cozens, respectively.
The Rockets responded with a victory from
Hanamichi Carvajal on the No. 2 court over Onder Balci 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) to cut the lead to 3-2. Youngstown State then clinched the victory on the No. 4 court when Ethan Dasset defeated Olivero in a three-set tiebreaker. YSU finished off with a victory on the No. 6 to secure the 5-2 win.
