TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team hits the road this weekend for the Central Virginia Classic in Richmond, Va. The Rockets will face VCU on Friday, Feb. 28, William & Mary on Saturday, March 1, and Richmond on Sunday, March 2. Friday and Sunday's games will air on ESPN+. Saturday's game will have a radio broadcast.
 
Toledo (2-5) is coming off a 5-3 win over High Point on Feb. 24 in the series' last game. Senior Logan Jones threw 4.2 scoreless innings and picked up his second save of the season with seven strikeouts.
 
VCU is 2-6 to start the season, with wins over Charleston and NC A&T. They are coming off a four-game stretch where they played two top-15 teams, No. 14 Clemson and No. 5 North Carolina. Friday's contest will be the first meeting ever between the Rockets and the Rams.
 
William & Mary has started the season at 4-4, with wins over Rhode Island and Marist. This will be the first meeting between the Rockets and the Tribe.
 
Richmond is off to a strong 7-1 start to the season, with series wins over Navy and Fairfield and wins over William & Mary and N.C. State. This will be the first meeting between the Rockets and the Spiders.

Leading Off

• Toledo snapped a four-game skid with the 5-3 win over High Point on Monday, also handing High Point its first loss of the season.
• The Rockets are playing two teams in the Atlantic 10 conference (VCU and Richmond) and the Coastal Athletic Association (William & Mary) for the Central Virginia Challenge.
• VCU is Toledo's eighth-straight game against an opponent that appeared in the 2024 NCAA Regionals. 

Rocket Hitting Notes

• Troy Sudbrook leads Toledo hitters with a .276 average, eight hits, three doubles, and four RBIs on the season. Luke Walton also has three doubles on the season.
• In Friday's opener against High Point, Sudbrook and Cole Cahill each drove in a run and had a pair of hits.
• Brayden White had two hits and two RBIs, while Caden Konczak scored two runs and added one RBI of his own on Saturday.
• In Monday's 5-3 win, five Rockets recorded an RBI, and Charlie Scholvin scored two runs.

On the Mound and In the Field

• Senior Logan Jones was named MAC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. Toledo has won the award two weeks in a row, with RJ Shunck earning the honor for week one.
• Brennan McCune pitched 3.1 scoreless innings, struck out four batters, and only allowed three hits in Saturday's game.
• In Sunday's game, Braden Curry pitched 3.1 scoreless innings, allowed just one hit, and struck out two batters.
• In Monday's game, Ryan Kennedy pitched 3.0 innings, allowed just two hits, and struck out two batters to pick up the win.
