TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team return to the confines of Savage Arena for a Mid-American Conference matchup against Akron on Saturday, Feb. 15. Tipoff is at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
 
The Rockets are tied with Kent State and Buffalo for second-place in the MAC at 8-3, three games behind first-place Ball State. Toledo currently holds the tiebreaker over both Buffalo and Kent State.
 
The Rockets (17-5, 8-3 MAC) finished off a successful road trip with a 56-52 victory at Old Dominion in the MAC-SBC Challenge last Saturday. Toledo was led by Nan Garcia with 13 points, while Sammi Mikonowicz added nine and set a new season high with 14 rebounds. Tied at 49-49 in the fourth quarter, Khera Goss drained back-to-back buckets to give the Rockets the lead for good.
 
The Zips (9-15, 3-8 MAC) fell 60-36 at Georgia Southern on Saturday. Shelbee Brown led the Zips with 19 points for the game. Akron has lost eight games in a row and is 2-9 on the road this season.
 
Saturday's game will be the program's Rockets for the Cure for Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio and the Eleanor N. Dana Cancer Center. Fans are encouraged to wear pink. Saturday will also be Alumni Day and Toledo will recognize Sophia Wiard for her MAC Player of the Year award in the 2023-24 season.
 
Parking is available in parking areas 1, 2 and 10 with premium parking areas in 3, 4, 5, 6 and 18.
 
The Rockets won its first meeting this season vs. Akron with a 74-54 triumph in James A. Rhodes Arena on Jan. 4. Toledo has won 10 games in a row in the series.

  • During its five-game winning streak, Toledo has held Bowling Green (23), Miami (22), and Buffalo (22) to their lowest rebound totals of the season.
  • Sammi Mikonowicz pulled down 14 rebounds against Old Dominion, the most for any Rocket this season.

  • Kendall Carruthers is averaging 13.4 points during the winning streak, shooting 8-of-13 (.616) from three over that stretch.
  • Nan Garcia scored 11 points against Buffalo and 13 at ODU, scoring in double-digits in consecutive games for the first time this season. She shot 9-of-16 (.563) last week.
  • Toledo has out-shot its opponent from three in every game during the streak. The Rockets are shooting 37.3% from distance in its last five games, while opponents are shooting 25.0%.
  • Faith Fedd-Robinson is ninth in the league with 15 blocks.
  • Toledo will reach 10 home wins for the fourth-consecutive season with a victory.
