Rockets win five events on first day of action against conference opponents
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Toledo women's swimming and diving team won five events, including the 400 freestyle relay, on the first night of the tri-meet with Buffalo and Bowling Green in Bowling Green on Friday night.
"I'm really happy with how we're racing and supporting each other as a team," said Head Coach Jacy Dyer. "It's so fun to see everything come together and see all their work pay off. We are looking forward to seeing what this team does tomorrow. I'm also very excited to honor our seniors and celebrate the work they've done the last 4-5 years"
Rosie Richards earned the first win of the evening, grabbing first in the 1000 freestyle (10:20.63). Junior Janne Slegers took first-place in both the 100 freestyle (51.45) and the 50 freestyle (24.08). Freshman Mackenzie Bushey recorded a final time of 2:21.81 in the 200 breaststroke to take home a first-place finish.
In relay events, the Rockets took first in the 400 freestyle relay behind Rosie Richards, Kenzie Myco, Leah Evans and Janne Slegers who tallied a final time of 3:28.46. Toledo also grabbed third in the 200 medley relay, thanks to a final time of 1:44.90 from Evans, Bushey, Myco and Audrey Zimmerman.

Toledo will wrap up the tri-meet with Buffalo and Bowling Green at the Student Recreation Center on Saturday, Feb. 1. The meet is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. with a senior day ceremony beginning at 10:35 a.m.
