Rockets prepare to host Huskies for two matches
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's volleyball team opens MAC play this weekend as the Rockets welcome the Northern Illinois Huskies to Savage Arena for a pair of matches.
The Rockets and the Huskies will kick off the weekend's matches on Friday, Sept. 27 at 6:00 p.m. and wrap up on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 4:00 p.m. Saturday will serve as Kids Day at Savage Arena. Youth tickets are available for $4 and can be purchased in-person or online. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
Toledo sits at an overall record of 7-5, which ranks fourth overall in the MAC. NIU enters the weekend with a record of 2-8, good for 11th place in the conference. The top six teams in conference matches advance to the MAC Tournament at the end of the regular season.

The Battle of I-75 comes to Savage Arena as Toledo and Bowling Green meet for the first time in the 2024 season. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, with coverage on BCSN and ESPN+.Â

ROCKET NOTES
- The Rockets rank first in the MAC and 19th in the country in team service aces with 90 total. Toledo averages 2.00 aces per set, which is good for second in the league and 23rd in the nation.
- Taylor Alt powers the Rockets' offense with 166 total kills, which ranks first in the MAC and 52nd in the nation. Alt is averaging 3.77 kills per set and currently sits in second on the NCAA Division I active kills leaderboard with 1,876. She trails only Ohio State's Emily Londot (1,899).
- Junior outside hitter Izzy Granger is second on the team in kills, averaging 2.89 per set. Granger also adds 2.24 digs per set.
- Redshirt freshman Sierra Pertzborn leads the Rockets in blocks, averaging 1.00 per set. Junior Anna Alford ranks second on the team, averaging 0.97 blocks per set.
- Nazli Guvëner leads the Huskies offense, averaging 3.06 kills per set which is good for ninth in the conference. Ava Grevengoed is close behind, averaging 2.90 kills per set.
- Crew Hoffmeier paces Northern Illinois' defense as she averages 5.36 digs per set. Her 5.36 digs per set rank first in the MAC and fifth in the nation.
- Head Coach Sondra (Parys) D'Amore was a four-year letterwinner for Toledo from 2009-12.
- Northern Illinois leads the all-time series, 50-16.
- Toledo swept the head-to-head matchups last season in DeKalb, Ill. winning both matches, 3-1.
