Toledo sets six personal records in Saturday's meet
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Toledo track & field team faced windy conditions, but battled through the weather to set several personal records and seven top-five finishes in its final regular season meet at the Lenn Paddock Invitational in Ann Arbor on Saturday.
Â
Toledo totaled six PRs on Saturday, with four in the 200m coming from sophomores Khamani Jones (24.69) and Laryah Worthy (25.29), and freshmen Rahzia Rios-Smith (25.59) and Nehemiah Coleman (26.87). Jones also set a PR in the 100m final, finishing in 12.05. In the field, freshman Nora Hark threw for a personal-best 42.20m in the javelin, achieving the score on her third throw.
Â
Hark's 42.20m was good for the individual win, her third this year in the javelin and UT's ninth as a team in 2024. Toledo's top-five finishes on Saturday came from Hark, Jones (2nd, 100m); junior Krystal Clark (3rd, 800m); freshman Michaela McGill (4th, 1500m); junior Sydney Caddell (5.09m, long jump); freshman Nehemiah Coleman (10.03m, triple jump) and Rios-Smith (5th, 400m).
Â
"This weekend was a great test to our athletes in facing adversity," said Assistant Coach Spencer Cameron-Pressley. "They were challenged with high winds from the first event to the last, which helped in some cases, but made longer-distance events and vertical jumps extremely difficult. Through this challenge, we accomplished some season-bests that will carry us well into the championship season.
Â
Individually, senior Lou Trois will compete at the Virginia High Performance on Sunday. As a team, Toledo will turn its attention to the MAC Outdoor Championships, held in DeKalb, Ill. May 9-11.
