Toledo Heads to Western Michigan for Final Road Series

The Rockets and Broncos will play three games at Ebert Field this Friday and Saturday
TOLEDO, Ohio – After almost a week since playing its last game, the Toledo softball team is back in action this weekend for a three-game series with Western Michigan. The Rockets (21-17, 11-6 MAC) and Broncos (23-19, 12-7 MAC) will play a doubleheader on Friday, April 26, followed by a single game on Saturday, April 27 at Ebert Field in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The Rockets currently sit in second place in the Mid-American Conference standings with an 11-6 league record, and trail Miami which leads the conference with an 18-1 MAC record ( 37-7 overall). The top six teams in the conference will play in the MAC Championships on May 8-11 at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio. Â
Last Time on the Field
The Rockets took two of three games last week, splitting their doubleheader with Ohio on Tuesday and ending the week with a 14-4 (5 inn.) win at Detroit Mercy on Thursday. Freshman Mady Yackee earned her first collegiate shutout in the 7-0 victory in Game One vs. the Bobcats. The Rockets scored a season-high 14 runs against the Titans and junior Eli Enriquez tied a season-high three stolen bases in the final non-conference game of the year in Detroit.

Toledo will close out the regular season next week with a doubleheader vs. Miami on Tuesday afternoon followed by a three-game series vs. Buffalo on Friday-Saturday at Scott Park.

- Toledo is hitting a program-best .315 this year with a .433 slugging percentage.
- Enriquez is No. 4 in Toledo history with 26 stolen bases and tied for No.3 all-time with Lindsey Tobias (2015) with five triples this year.
- Senior Riley Mohr drove in her 91st career RBI last week to join senior Jenna Kroll on Toledo's top 10 list. Mohr is now No.9 while Kroll sits at No. 4 with 105.
- Mohr has 34 doubles under her belt, which is tied for No. 8 in program history with Brenda Steinbrunner (1986-89) and Lacy LeVier (2007-10).
- After scoring three runs at Detroit Mercy, senior Lauren Erickson has 75 runs in her career which ranks No.10 in program history.
- WMU took the opener at Ohio on Saturday but dropped its final two games to lose the series.
- The Broncos are 7-1 at home this year and are hitting a combined .279 at the plate. The offense is led by junior Payton Kelly who is hitting .344 with 43 hits and has cracked five home runs.
- In the circle, senior Rissa Bajusz leads the conference with a 1.91 ERA with 188 strikeouts (48 looking) in 139.0 innings pitched. Bajusz was recognized on Tuesday as the NFCA Top Performer.
