Toledo Splits Time at Bucknell, Tiffin This Weekend

Rockets will send distance runners to Bison Outdoor Classic, and sprinters/ jumpers/ field athletes to Tiffin Track Carnival
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's track & field team will split its team and send its distance runners to Bucknell's two-day Bison Outdoor Classic, while the sprinters/ jumpers/ and field athletes will compete at Tiffin's two-day Tiffin Track Carnival.
The Rockets are coming off a strong showing at Michigan State's Spartan Invite last weekend. Junior Sydney Caddell and freshmen Lexi Plott, Nehemiah Coleman, and Rahzia Rios-Smith all finished in the top 10 of their respective events, and UT's 4x100 relay team clocked in at 50.79 for a third-place finish.
The Rockets' 5000m event squad remains ranked No.9 in the country in the USTFCCCA's Week 9 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field rankings. In the 5K race at the Raleigh Relays last month, freshman Mercy Kinyanjui ran a 16:01.68 and senior Madeline Vining ran a 16:20.16, which ranks second and seventh respectively in Toledo history.
The Toledo men's cross country team will send Dennis Mutai to compete in the 1500m race at Bucknell, and Alex Martinez, Peter McMahon, Max Matolin, Sean Smith, and Abi Yohaness down to Tiffin.
The Rockets will have a busy week ahead of them, and compete at the Mt. SAC Relays in Torrance, Calif. (April 17-20), the Wake Forest Invite in Winston-Salem, NC (April 19), and the Jesse Owens Track Classic in Columbus, Ohio (April 19-20) next week.
