Toledo to Face Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan for First Time This Year

Rockets can clinch East Division title and spot in MAC Tournament with win over Huskies on Friday
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team will play two of its final four matches this weekend, hosting Northern Illinois on Friday, April 12 before heading to Ypsilanti, Mich. to face Eastern Michigan on Sunday, April 14.
Friday's match will be held outside at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts if weather permits. The match will be held at Twos Athletic Club if it needs to be moved inside.
Toledo (13-4, 6-0 MAC) can clinch the East Division title with a win on Friday and secure a spot in the 2024 Mid-American Conference Tournament on April 26-27 in Toledo, Ohio. The Rockets are the only undefeated team in the conference with two weeks left in the regular season. The top teams from each division get an automatic spot and the next two best records will play in the MAC Tournament. Toledo sits atop the conference standings, followed by Western Michigan (13-6, 4-2 MAC), Ball State (7-11, 4-2 MAC), Eastern Michigan (9-9, 3-3 MAC) and Miami (9-10, 3-3 MAC).
Last Time on the Court
Toledo had another successful weekend on the road, taking down both Miami and Bowling Green for the second time this season. Senior Shalini Tallamraju clinched match point vs. the RedHawks in a close 4-3 decision, while senior Julia Kuszynski secured the win over the Falcons in a 7-0 sweep. Sophomore Audrey Moutama has the longest Rocket winning streak at seven matches, and her last six matches have been decided in two sets. Moutama and senior Sloane Teske are both 6-0 against MAC opponents this year.
Milestone Markers
Northern Illinois defeated Eastern Michigan and fell to Western Michigan to earn the split last weekend. Junior Reagan Welch has won her last three matches mostly from the No. 5 court and leads the Huskies with a 13-7 spring record and a 4-2 conference record.

Eastern Michigan has an even 9-9 overall record with a 3-3 MAC ledger, having lost to NIU and defeated Buffalo last weekend. Seniors Linda Eloundou (21-7) and Andrea Quiroz (18-11) lead the Eagles this spring with matching 4-2 records against conference opponents. EMU will play at Western Michigan on Friday before putting its 9-0 home record on the line against Toledo on Sunday afternoon.

- Cassie Alcala and Kuszynski earned their first MAC Doubles Team of the Week honor on Tuesday for their performance at Miami and Bowling Green last week.
- Alcala (95), Teske (87), and Tallamraju (82) occupy the top three spots in Toledo history for career singles wins. Alcala also leads the program with 169 career combined wins and Teske moved up to the No. 2 spot last weekend with 156 combined victories. Tallamraju (113) is tied with No.9 Bernice Lougo (1992-95) with 113 career wins, and Kuszynski ranks No.12 with 106 combined victories.
