Toledo Heads to Northern Illinois for Weekend Showdown

Rockets have won the last three MAC series and possess a 9-3 conference ledger
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo softball team will go for its fourth-straight Mid-American Conference series win as it heads across state lines to DeKalb, Ill. to play three games vs. Northern Illinois at Mary M. Bell Field this weekend. The Rockets (18-14, 9-3 MAC) are currently in second place in the Mid-American Conference standings, two games behind league leader and defending champion Miami (29-6, 11-0 MAC).

Toledo took two of three games vs. Kent State last weekend at Scott Park. The Rockets swept the doubleheader, 8-4 and 4-3, but fell 8-2 in the final game of the series to end its eight-game MAC winning streak and undefeated home record.

Toledo will turn around and play a doubleheader with Ohio on Tuesday, April 16 at Scott Park before heading up to Detroit Mercy for a single game on Thursday, April 18.

- Toledo is having its best performance at the plate in school history, topping the previous records with a .315 batting average and .435 slugging percentage.
- Toledo has won its last three MAC series, including two sweeps vs. Bowling Green (March 22-23) and Ball State (March 29-30).
- Junior Eli Enriquez hit her fifth triple last weekend, which is tied for No. 3 in Toledo history with Lindsey Tobias's 2013 record. Enriquez leads the MAC with 22 stolen bases and five triples.
- NIU split its doubleheader with Bradley on Wednesday afternoon, dropping the opener 11-10 before picking up a 5-3 win to end its four-game losing streak.
- The Huskies are hitting .270 as a team.
- Senior Ellis Erickson leads the offense with a .395 batting average (6th/ MAC), 45 hits (3rd/ MAC), 14 doubles (2nd/ MAC), and six homers.
