Rockets will play six games in four days at Long Beach State and CSF/LBSU Tournament

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo softball team continues its spring break trip in California this week as it prepares to play six games in four days beginning with a single game vs. 2023 Big West Champion Long Beach State on Wednesday, March 6. UT (6-7) will then play five games at the CSF/LBSU Tournament on Thursday-Saturday, March 7-9 in Fullerton, Calif.

Last Time on the Field
Toledo played five games last weekend at GCU's Purple Classic in Phoenix, Ariz. The Rockets split their doubleheader on Saturday, defeating Montana 6-5 in the opener, for their only win of the Purple Classic. For the tournament, junior Eli Enriquez collected a team-best eight hits and was 6-for-7 in stolen-base attempts. Senior Jenna Kroll and junior Sidney Griffith added seven hits each, while senior Riley Mohr registered a team-high five RBIs and one home run.

Rockets on Record

Senior Jenna Kroll drove in one run last weekend to give her 89 career RBIs and put her in a tie for 10th place in program history with Jessica Lemieux (2013-16).
Senior Riley Mohr has been walked four times this year and is at No.9 in program history with 58 walks. She trails Aubrey Reed (2019-23), who drew 59 walks in her career.
Junior Sophia Knight recorded her 200th career strikeout in the win vs. Western Illinois (Feb. 24) and currently has 220.
Enriquez recorded six stolen bases at the Purple Classic to give her 12 this season, five away from reaching the single-season Top 10 list.

About Long Beach State (3-17)

Sophia Fernandez and Shannon Haddad threw back-to-back shutouts over Cal. State Fullerton to clinch the 2023 Big West Championship title. The Beach lost to Stanford and Loyola (Md.) in the NCAA Regionals to end their season with a 31-23 (21-6 Big West) record.
Malayna Terrones was recently named Big West Freshman of the Week for her two home runs in wins over Michigan and San Jose State last week.

About Fairfield (1-7)

Fairfield made its 12^th-consecutive Meto Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament appearance before being shut out 2-0 in the 2023 MAAC Tournament elimination game to Iona. The Stags ended the season winning nine of their last 11 games for a final 22-25 (11-9 MAAC) record.
Fairfield was picked No. 3 in the MAAC preseason coaches poll, and returned 2023 All-MAAC outfielder Charli Warren.
Fairfield will play California Baptist on Wednesday evening before taking the field with Toledo for the first time since 2010.

About Cal. State Fullerton (11-9)

CSF defeated UNC Greensboro but fell to Auburn and was eliminated from the 2023 NCAA Regional tournament to conclude last season with a 34-21 (20-7 Big West) record.
The Titans were selected to win the 2024 Big West Championships for the ninth-consecutive season, while Megan Delgadillo and Haley Rainey received All-Big West Preseason Team honorees.
Last weekend, CSF book-ended the Judi German Classic with a pair of victories over Michigan and Fresno State. Thursday's game will be the first between Toledo and Cal. State Fullerton since March 23, 1990.

About Yale (1-8)

Yale was selected to finish third in the 2024 Ivy League Preseason Poll, after finishing last season with a 20-23 (11-10 Ivy) record and falling to Harvard and Princeton in the conference tournament.
Yale has lost its last six games, including all four at the Coastal Carolina Tournament last weekend. Friday's game will be the first since 2015 between Toledo and Yale.

About Princeton (5-4)

Princeton was the Ivy League's Co-Regular Season Champion with Yale last season,
The Tigers returned three 2023 All-Ivy League honorees, third baseman Julia Dumais, shortstop Grace Jackson, and outfielder Allison Ha as well as 2022 Ivy Rookie of the Year Sophia Marsalo.
Princeton and Toledo are playing each other for the second time in history, the last being on March 21, 2015.

About Utah State (9-9)

Utah State is coming off a 2-2 showing at the Capital Classic in Sacramento, Calif., last weekend. The Aggies are hitting .286 this season, and are led by infielder Ariel Fifita who has a .447 average including 21 hits and three doubles.
Utah State and Toledo will play on Saturday for the first time since 1998.

On Deck
Toledo will open its Mid-American Conference season with a three-game series at Akron on Friday-Saturday, March 15-16
