Rockets putting 10-match home winning streak on line against Broncos
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team will begin defense of its Mid-American Conference regular-season title when it hosts Western Michigan in its conference opener on Saturday afternoon at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts.
Last Time on the Court
Toledo (7-4) fell to defending Big South Champion Charleston Southern before defeating the College of Charleston to earn a split on its final non-conference weekend in Charleston, S.C. last week. Senior Cassie Alcala and sophomore Audrey Moutama won their respective courts vs. the Cougars, while senior Julia Kuszynski clinched match point for the Rockets after capturing the doubles point at the start of the match. Alcala leads the team this spring with an 8-3 record from the top court, followed by Moutama (7-3), and senior Shalini Tallamraju (6-3).
Rockets' Victory Milestones
Western Michigan concluded non-conference play with a pair of losses to Arizona State and Nevada during its spring break trip to enter conference action with a 9-4 record. WMU was picked No. 6 in this year's MAC Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll.

- Alcala, Sloane Teske (81), and Shalini Tallamraju (77) occupy the top three sports in program history for career singles wins.
- The Rockets won a program-best 20 matches, including an undefeated 10-0 record in conference play, to earn the program's first Mid-American Conference title and No.1 seed in the conference tournament during the 2022-23 season.
- Toledo won 12 consecutive matches, also a program record, to advance to the finals of the MAC Tournament for a second straight season but fell to Ball State in the finals.
- Alcala was the 2021 MAC Freshman of the Year and is the two-time defending MAC Player of the Year.
