Toledo improves to 2-0 in conference play with fifth-straight win over Ball State
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team improved to 7-7 overall, and 2-0 in Mid-American Conference play with a 4-3 win over Ball State on Friday afternoon.
The win was the fifth in a row for the Rockets over the Cardinals since the 2021-22 season.
After UT took the doubles point, No.88 ranked Pawit Sornlaksup got the Rockets off to a 2-0 lead with a quick two-setter from the top court to extend his conference winning streak to 22 consecutive matches. Ball State got on the board from its own two-set victory at the No. 4 court, until junior Hanamichi Carvajal put UT at match point with his two-set decision from the No. 2 court. Sophomore Matias Olivero put the match away 4-1 from his two-set win at the No. 6 spot. Ball State won the final two courts of the afternoon, including a three-set decision from the No.5 court to end the match.
Toledo will continue its homestand this weekend as it takes the court vs. Western Michigan on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
