Five swimmers will compete in Ocala, Fla. and two divers will compete in Louisville, Ky. Beginning on Thursday
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's swimming & diving team will have five swimmers and two divers start postseason competition this week at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships in Ocala, Fla, on March 14-17, and at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in Louisville Ky. on March 14-16.
Madeline Blakely (relay), Sarah Kate Glosson (relay), Kennedy Lovell (freestyle & butterfly), Janne Slegers (freestyle), and Faith Sill (backstroke) will head down to the Sunshine State for this year's CSCAA NIC. The Rockets will also compete in Sunday's long court time trials. The Rockets finished 80th overall with 24 team points at last year's three-day event in Elkhart, Ind.
Senior Madison Giglio will compete in both the one-and-three-meter dives at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships. She won the three-meter vs. UIndy (Jan. 13) with a 299.93 and was runner-up on the one-meter board at Marshall on Jan. 27 to qualify for the postseason. Giglio finished 29th on both boards at last year's Zone C Championships.
Sophomore Annie Bartlett won her first individual event, scoring a PR of 276.38 on the one-meter board vs. UIndy on Jan. 13 to qualify for Zones. Her score ranks No.6 in UT history.
Zone C of the NCAA Diving Championships is allowed nine spots on the one-meter, 10 spots on the three-meter, and nine spots on the platform into the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga., next week March 20-23. Any diver that qualifies for the NCAA Diving Championships will be allowed to optionally enter any other event(s) at the championships, as long as that diver finished in the top 12 at the same zone meet and has scored the zone qualifying score for that event before the NCAA Diving Championships.
