Rockets Take Flight for Boston’s David Hemery Valentine Invitational

Boston University’s two-day invitational being streamed on FloTrack
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's track & field team will send 10 distance runners to compete at Boston University's annual David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 9-10. The Rockets will run the 3,000m, 5,000m, and mile races on Friday beginning at 9:40 a.m.
The Rockets' sprinters recorded six personal-best times at the Akron Invitational last weekend, and sophomore Marina Gross ran the 3,000m at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational on Saturday morning. Sophomore Khamani Jones (60m), freshman Rahzia Rios-Smith (200m & 400m), freshman Izabella Frankart (200m & 400m) and junior Sydney Caddell (60m) all recorded a new best time in their respective events.
At last year's Hemery Valentine Invitational, junior Joy Chirchir, senior Lou Trois, and senior Madeline Vining all posted stellar Toledo indoor times in the mile and 5,000m races. Trois recorded the second-fastest mile time in school history at 4:37.47. Chirchir ran the third-fastest UT time in the 5K at 16:15.77, while Vining ran a 16:27.23 good for the eighth-best time by a Rocket.
