Toledo to Travel to Michigan State for Friday Matchup

First serve between Rockets and Spartans set for 3:00 p.m. in East Lansing
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team will visit Michigan State on Friday, Feb. 9 for a 3:00 p.m. matchup at MSU's Indoor Tennis Facility.
Last Time on the Court
Toledo improved to 3-1 on the season after defeating UIC (6-1) on Sunday afternoon in its eighth straight win at Twos Athletic Club since January 2023. The Rockets won the doubles point and five singles courts with senior Cassie Alcala clinching at the No. 1 court for the second time this season. Freshman Gaby Rondon forced a tiebreaker from the No. 2 court after losing her first set (6-4), won the second set (6-3) and put the game away in a 10-8 super tiebreaker win. UIC's only win of the afternoon was from a super tiebreaker at the No. 3 court.
Rockets in the Rankings
Alcala went a combined 4-0 last weekend to improve her career singles wins to 86 and her combined record to 152 victories. Her singles record leads the program, while her combined record ranks No. 2 behind Martina Wodzinski (2007-10), who tops the program with 154 combined career wins in Toledo history. Alcala can tie Wodzinski this weekend with both a singles and doubles win against MSU.
Toledo's two wins last weekend put Head Coach Tracy Mauntler (2004-present) three wins away from reaching 250 career victories.
About Michigan State
Michigan State evened its record to 2-2 this season following a 6-1 victory at Dartmouth College last weekend. Last season, the Spartans were 9-14 (2-9 Big Ten) and fell to Rutgers in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
Toledo competed at Michigan State's Hidden Dual in early November 2023 but fell in head-to-head action to the Spartans on Jan. 15 at home.
