TOLEDO, Ohio – Senior Cassie Alcala delivered the clinching point for the Toledo women's tennis team on Sunday afternoon in a 6-1 final over UIC at Twos Athletic Club. With the win, UT improves to 3-1 this season and extends its home winning streak to eight matches since January of 2023.

Freshman Jone Ibanez won her first match as a Rocket and first singles match of the afternoon at the No. 6 spot, and sophomore Sanjana Tallamraju followed quickly with a two-setter from the No. 4 spot. Alcala clinched the match at 4-0 over UIC's Agnes Gustafsson in two sets, her fourth straight win from the No. 1 spot this year. Alcala padded her Toledo singles record with her 84th career win, all from the No. 1 court.

Freshman Gaby Rondon forced a tiebreaker from the No. 2 court after losing her first set to Tamara Malazonia, 6-4. Rondon won the second set 6-3 and brought it home in the 10-8 super tiebreaker win. UIC's only win of the afternoon was from a super tiebreaker at the No. 3 court.

"I think our experience in singles play today was evident," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "We got great starts and stayed on top of most courts throughout the match."

Toledo will play one match next Friday, Feb. 9 in East Lansing, Mich. when it takes on Michigan State (1-2).
