Rockets Welcome Duquesne and Youngstown State This Weekend

Toledo has won eight straight home matches since January 2023

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team will put its eight-match home winning streak on the line as it welcomes Duquesne and 2023 Horizon League Champion Youngstown State to Twos Athletic Club this week. The Rockets will take the court with the Dukes on Friday and then the Penguins on Saturday, with both matches scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Last Time on the Court
Toledo improved to 4-3 after a split weekend in West Virginia, losing to WVU on Friday before upsetting reigning CAA Champion William & Mary on Saturday. Seniors Cassie Alcala and Shalini Tallamraju went undefeated in singles play while senior Sloane Teske and freshman Audrey Moutama went 2-0 from the No. 3 doubles court last weekend. Tallamraju tied the match vs. the Tribe on Saturday afternoon to set up the dramatic 7-6(4), 7-6(11) clinch by Mautama.

Tallamraju's efforts in Morgantown earned her Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the Week recognition.

Rockets' Victory Milestones

Alcala's three combined victories set her up to take over as Toledo's new record holder with 155 victories in singles and doubles play. She took the crown from Martina Wodzinski (2007-10) who held the record with 154 combined wins. Alcala is already the program's career singles record holder, currently at 88 wins from the No. 1 court.
Teske recorded her 79^th career singles win to rank No. 2 in the program, while Tallamraju now has 74 victories and is No. 3 in UT history.
Head Coach Tracy Mauntler is two wins away from the 250-win milestone.

About Duquesne
Duquesne (3-5) split its matches with Buffalo and IUP last weekend, falling to the Bulls and capturing a win over the Crimson Hawks.

About Youngstown State
Youngstown State won the 2023 Horizon League Championship and fell to Michigan in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Penguins enter this weekend 2-7 after narrowly falling 4-3 to Ball State last weekend. YSU has already played MAC opponents Buffalo (L, 6-1), Bowling Green (W, 6-1), and Ball State, and will play Western Michigan on Friday before visiting Toledo on Sunday afternoon.
