TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team will play its first road game of the 2024-25 season when the Rockets head to Iowa for a Wednesday night matchup at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. on Big Ten Network.

The Rockets (1-0, 0-0 MAC) got the Ginny Boggess era off to a strong start with a 71-68 win over defending Sun Belt Conference champion Marshall on Nov. 4. Toledo rallied from a 24-8 deficit early in the second quarter, out-scoring the Thundering Herd 63-44 the rest of the way.

The Hawkeyes (2-0, 0-0 Big Ten) defeated Northern Illinois at home and Virginia Tech in Charlotte last week. The 2022-23 and 2023-24 Division I runners-up received 60 votes in Monday's AP poll and are the first team outside the Top 25.

Toledo will look to make it three seasons in a row in which it has defeated a Big Ten opponent, having triumphed over Michigan the past two seasons, including a 71-68 victory in Ann Arbor with UM ranked No. 14 on Dec. 8, 2022.

- Toledo will play its first road game of the season against Iowa.
- The Rockets will play its first of two Big Ten opponents in in the non-conference slate, with the Rockets also set to face Maryland on Dec. 1.
- Iowa is the second of Toledo's three non-conference opponents who made the NCAA Tournament last season (Marshall, Maryland).
- Head Coach Ginny Boggess is in her first season at Toledo and earned her first win as the Rockets' head coach against the Thundering Herd. UT will play its second straight game against first-year head coaches on Wednesday when it faces Iowa's Jan Jensen.
- The Rockets have won each of their last five road openers, defeating Georgia State (2019-20), Northern Illinois (2020-21), Oakland (2021-22), Cincinnati (2022-23) and James Madison (2023-24).
- Toledo finished 10-4 on the road last season including 8-1 in MAC road contests.
- The Rockets, in their first game under Head Coach Ginny Boggess, defeated Marshall 71-68 in the season opener on Nov. 4.

- Sammi Mikonowicz added 15 points on 6-of-13 from the field while also grabbing six rebound. Khera Goss stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.
- The Rockets improved to 3-0 in the MAC-SBC Challenge, which will continue with an SBC opponent to be determined on Feb. 8 on the road.
- Toledo also extended its home winning streak to 16, dating back to last year.
- Toledo held a 44-33 rebound advantage against Marshall, including 19-12 on the offensive glass.
- The Rockets were able to get to the free throw line, making 20 compared to 12 for Marshall.
- Toledo is looking to earn its fourth-straight Mid-American Conference title this year. Toledo was picked fifth in the preseason poll and was also awarded a vote as tournament champion.
- Mikonowicz entered the season as a Second-Team Preseason All-MAC selection and is coming off of third-team pick a season ago.
- The Rockets return eight players to their roster from 2023-24, while bringing in six freshmen and one transfer.
- Kendall Carruthers spent her freshman season at St. Francis (Pa.), where she was selected as the NEC Rookie of the Year and First-Team All-NEC. She averaged 14.1 points, 3.4 assists, 2.0 assists and 0.9 steals.
- The Rockets' roster features four players from Northwest Ohio – Carruthers (Toledo), Mikonowicz (Rossford), Kendall Braden (Toledo) and Destiny Robinson (Fremont).
- Boggess was hired on April 9, 2024 as the program's 10th head coach. The Rockets' new staff includes Associate Head Coach Geoff Lanier and assistant coaches Jackie Alexander and Takima Keane.
