Freshman fires season-low one-under par 71 in opening round

CORAL GABLES, FLA. – Freshman Brooklyn Millard fired a season-best one-under par 71 in Monday's opening round and is tied for 11^th place after 36 holes at Miami's Hurricane Invitational. Toledo sits in 10^th place in the team standings in the tournament being held at the par-72, 6,175-yard Biltmore Golf Course.

Millard tallied eight birdies today, including five in her initial 18 holes. She played her first nine holes this morning at four-over par before notching birdies on four of five holes to get to even-par. Millard then birdied her second-to-last hole to finish in the red.

Senior Kyleigh Dull (77-75) and redshirt freshman Valeria Lizcano (79-73) are tied for 43^rd place at eight-over par 152. Lizcano registered UT's best round of the afternoon by improving her score from her first 18 holes by six strokes.

Senior Yedam Lee is tied for 54^th place at 156, while freshman Emily Young is in 62^nd place at 165.

Tournament host Miami is leading the field at two-under par 574, with the Hurricane's Olivia Gronborg and Eastern Michigan's Savannah de Bock tied for first place individually at five-under par 139.

The third and final round of the tournament will begin tomorrow morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
