Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rockets Soar Past RedHawks, 2-0

Olivia Dault, Brooklyn Whitehead score to secure Mid-American Conference victory

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's soccer team broke through for two second-half goals in a 2-0 Mid-American Conference victory over Miami at Paul Hotmer Field on Sunday.

The Rockets (5-6-3, 2-3-2 MAC, 8 Pts.) got goals from senior Olivia Dault in the 70th minute and an insurance tally from junior Brooklyn Whitehead in the 81st minute. Toledo held Miami (5-4-5, 1-3-3, 6 Pts.) to just three shots on goal to record the shutout.

Dault scored her second goal of the season and Whitehead her first. Senior Chloe Tadolini finished with an assist on Dault's goal, her fourth of the season, while Grace Turski assisted Whitehead's goal for her third helper of the season. Junior Agnes Stenlund made two saves to finish with her sixth shutout of the year.

"That was a super gritty effort from the group," said Head Coach Mark Batman. "Conditions were a bit tough, and everyone had to be effective with the rain. We had two key free-kick moments. Olivia Dault releasing from pressure on the first goal was great for her, and Brooklyn Whitehead was in the right place at the right time on her score. The second goal made things way easier for the last 10 minutes."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • 23' | Kaema Amachree made a run up the right side, but her shot from inside the box went wide right.
  • 70' | After being awarded a free kick, Chloe Tadolini served a ball into the box and Olivia Dault went up for the header and scored from in close above the keeper for a 1-0 lead.
  • 71' | Miami's corner kick led to a deflected ball from in close, but the redirection was kept off the goal line by Tori Lyncha.
  • 81' | A corner kick to the near post was deflected behind the keeper by Brooklyn Whitehead for a 2-0 advantage.
