Tournament to be held at Inverness Club, the host of the 2027 U.S. Women's Open
TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo women's golf program will host the Glass City Invitational with some of the top teams in the country competing at the Inverness Club next week. The 54-hole tournament will be played on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 25-26. A 9:30 a.m. shotgun start will open the tournament on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. tee time start scheduled for Tuesday. The event is open to the public with free parking.
Tuesday's final round will be streamed on ESPN+ beginning at noon. The coverage will include footage from Holes 12, 15, 16 and 18.
The Inverness Club was founded in 1903, and along with the University of Toledo, served as host for the 2009 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. Inverness hosted the 2021 Solheim Cup in addition to previously hosting four U.S. Opens, two U.S. Senior Opens, two PGA Championships and one U.S. Amateur. In the future, Inverness will host the 2027 U.S. Women's Open and the 2029 U.S. Amateur.
"We are extremely excited to be hosting the Glass City Invitational at the Inverness Club," Head Coach Jenny Coluccio said. "This tournament is the cornerstone of our schedule with a strong field coming to compete at our home club. We have been working hard in practice and are looking forward to the challenge of competing against some of the best programs in the nation."
The tourney field includes two schools – Michigan State and Virginia – that advanced to the 2023 NCAA Championships as well as four more – Florida, Kent State, Michigan, and South Florida – that qualified for last year's NCAA Regionals. In this year's Women's Golf Coaches Association preseason poll, the Cavaliers and Gators are ranked No. 23 and No. 24, respectively.
Also competing in the event along with the Rockets are Indiana, Miami (Fla.), and Notre Dame.
Florida captured the inaugural Glass City Invitational in 2019 with a six-over par 870, four strokes in front of Michigan and nine ahead of Michigan State.
Toledo opened its season last week at the Spartans' Mary Fossum Invitational. Senior Angel Hii led the Rockets with a 54-hole score of 12-over par 228. The Rockets' lineup this week will consist of Hii at No. 1, senior Macy Hanus at No. 2, junior Kyleigh Dull at No. 3, senior Amelia Lee at No. 4, and freshman Mia Natividad at No. 5.
