TOLEDO, Ohio - The University of Toledo has been named the recipient of the 2022-23 Mid-American Conference Institutional Academic Achievement Award, the conference office announced today. For the past academic year, UT's student-athletes posted a school-record grade point average of 3.437, achieving a school-record GPA in both the fall (3.401) and spring (3.474) semesters. It is the seventh time in the last 12 years the Rockets have won the award.
The MAC Institutional Academic Achievement Award is presented annually to the conference institution which achieves the highest overall institutional GPA for student-athletes competing in institutionally sponsored sports for the academic year.
Toledo earned the highest GPAs in football (3.075), men's basketball (3.275), men's golf (3.797), and softball (3.756).
"We are extremely honored to receive this award from the Mid-American Conference," said Toledo Vice President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair. "This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication our student-athletes in the classroom. To win six conference championships and also have the best GPA in the MAC in the same year is truly an amazing accomplishment. Honors like these are a team effort, so I would like to commend our Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) team, as well as our University faculty, staff, coaches and families who support the academic endeavors of our student-athletes."

The previous academic years that Toledo has won the MAC Institutional Academic Achievement Award were 2018-19 (3.277 GPA), 2017-18 (3.266 GPA), 2015-16 (3.235), 2014-15 (3.213 GPA), 2012-13 (3.200) and 2011-12 (3.171).
