Rockets rank third among MAC schools in key graduation rate indicator; Football ranks No. 1 in league
TOLEDO, Ohio - The University of Toledo received a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 93 percent for its athletic department, a figure that ranks third among schools in the Mid-American Conference, in the latest figures released by the NCAA.
Additionally, Toledo ranks in the top one-third of all NCAA Division I schools and eighth among the 60 "Group of Five" schools in the Football Sub-Division (FBS).
This is the third consecutive year that the Rockets have achieved a 93 percent GSR and the seventh straight year at 92 percent or higher.
Seven Rocket teams scored a perfect 100 GSR: men's basketball, women's basketball, women's soccer, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, and women's volleyball. Football recorded a program-record 96 GSR, the top score in the Mid-American Conference.
"Our graduation success rate reflects the incredible commitment of our student-athletes to excellence in the classroom," said University of Toledo Vice President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair. "We strive to ensure that every Rocket leaves our University fully prepared to positively impact the world, carrying both a championship ring and a meaningful UToledo degree. We are extremely proud of their academic accomplishments and excited to see their continued success in the classroom and beyond."
GSR is a gauge of every team's graduation rate within a six-year period of a student-athlete's enrollment. The latest GSR figures examined the student-athlete cohort that originally enrolled in 2018 and would need to have graduated by August of 2024Â to count as a graduate. The GSR formula, intended to be a more complete and accurate look at student-athlete success, removes from the rate student-athletes who leave school while academically eligible and includes student-athletes who transfer to a school after initially enrolling elsewhere. The GSR also allows for a deeper understanding of graduation success in individual sports than the federal metric, which has broader groupings.
