Twelve teams finish above 3.5, every sport earns at least a 3.0 GPA
TOLEDO, Ohio – University of Toledo student-athletes earned a school-record grade-point average of 3.529 in the 2026 spring semester, Vice President and Director of Athletics Tom Moreland announced today.Â
Â
It is the first time Rocket student-athletes have achieved a 3.5 GPA and just the fifth time they've reached a 3.4. Toledo student-athletes have now recorded a GPA of 3.3 or higher in each of the past 14 semesters. Twelve Rocket teams finished above a 3.5, and every sport earned at least a 3.0 GPA.
Â
"Our student-athletes continue to raise the standard for academic excellence at the University of Toledo," Moreland said. "Achieving a department-record 3.529 GPA is a tremendous accomplishment that reflects the dedication, discipline and support system our Rockets have built together.Â
Â
"I'm especially proud that every one of our programs earned at least a 3.0 GPA, while so many individuals and teams reached historic milestones in the classroom. These achievements speak to the culture our coaches, academic support staff and student-athletes have created, and they represent the true meaning of success as a Rocket."Â
Â
"This semester was exceptional from top to bottom, and our student-athletes should be incredibly proud of what they accomplished academically," added Associate Athletics Director of Student Athlete Academic Services Jillian Lehman. "Setting a new department record while also seeing program-best GPAs, a remarkable number of Honor Roll students and 74 perfect 4.0 semesters shows the consistency and commitment of our teams. Our academic support staff works tirelessly to provide resources and guidance, but the credit belongs to our student-athletes for embracing the challenge and prioritizing excellence in the classroom."Â
Â
Women's Tennis achieved the highest GPA in the department with a 3.885, which is second all-time for any Toledo sports, trailing only the record of 3.913 set by Women's Tennis in the fall of 2023. Women's Golf was second with a 3.860 GPA, followed by Men's Golf (3.765).
