
Boyer Wins 3000m Steeplechase as Rockets Close Regular Season in Ashland

Six Rockets record personal-bests on Saturday
ASHLAND, Ohio – Jordyn Boyer took the crown in the 3000m steeplechase to lead the Toledo women's track & field team on the final two days of regular season competition at the Ashland Alumni Open on Saturday. The Rockets closed the regular season with six PRs and nine top-five finishes on Saturday.
Boyer recorded a time of 11:29.45 to win the event in Ashland, Ohio. The senior finished the race just under three seconds ahead of the second-place runner.
Senior Alexia Moehling earned a top-five finish in the 100H. She reached the finals after recording a time of 14.41 and posted a 14.44 finals time to place fifth.
Ava Moran and Meyah Haywood finished second and third, respectively, in the 100m. Moran reached the finals with a 12.44 prelims time before tying her PR in the finals with a time of 12.21. Haywood recorded a prelims time of 12.61 before improving to 12.50 in the finals. Also competing in the 100m were Jimesha Ragland (12.96) and Paris Gosha (13.07), who finished 11th and 13th, respectively.
Gosha, Moran, Ragland, and Heywood combined for another top-three finish for the Rockets, placing third in the 4x100m. Toledo completed the relay in 48.21.
Shianne Johnson, Laryah Worthy, and Khamani Jones finished side-by-side in third, fourth, and fifth in the 400m. All three Rockets recorded personal records in the event, posting times of 58.99, 59.04, and 1:00.10, respectively.
Audrey Witham finished runner-up in the 800m. The junior crossed the finish line at 2:13.97 to record a PR in the event.
Five Rockets competed in the 200m, led by Moran's seventh-place finish. The senior posted a time of 25.59. Jones and Haywood finished in ninth and 10th, recording times of 25.92 and 26.00. Haywood's time was good for a personal-best in the event. Gosha and Ragland added times of 26.82 and 27.33 to round out the field for Toledo.
Makenna Englund was the lone Rocket to compete in field events in Ashland on Saturday. The freshman recorded a mark of 1.48m in the high jump to finish 12th.
The Rockets will have next weekend off before heading to Akron, Ohio, on Thursday-Saturday, May 11-13, for the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
