Toledo Visits Miami and Western Michigan This Weekend

No. 66 ranked Rockets take an undefeated 6-0 MAC record on the road
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team takes a seven-match winning streak and program-best 6-0 Mid-American Conference record on the road this weekend to Oxford, Ohio and Kalamazoo, Mich. UT will play its second match in the past week vs. Miami on Friday before visiting Western Michigan on Sunday afternoon.
For the fifth consecutive week, Toledo is ranked among the top-75 women's tennis programs in the nation, staying at the No. 66 spot in the ITA Division I Women's Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point. The Rockets also sit at the top of the MAC East Division standings as the only undefeated program in conference play with just two weeks left to play until the league tournament. The top four teams, two from each division, will play for the MAC title on Saturday-Sunday, April 29-20 in Muncie, Ind.
About the Rockets (15-3, 6-0 MAC)
Julia Kuszynski clinched match point for Toledo 4-3 over Miami last weekend to keep the Rockets perfect in MAC play. The win improved the Rockets to 15-3 overall and extended their winning streak to a season-best seven matches.
Shalini Tallamraju (No. 3) and Sloane Teske (No. 2) have identical 15-3 6-0 MAC records from their respective courts. Tallamraju has won her last seven matches while Teske has won her last six matches. No. 1 singles player Cassie Alcala also has a 15-3 overall record but saw her 11-consecutive MAC winning streak come to an end last weekend to fall to 5-1 in league play.Â
About Miami (9-11, 3-3 MAC)
Miami lost a 4-3 decision at Toledo on April 7 to fall to 3-3 in MAC play.
About Western Michigan (11-7, 2-4 MAC)
Western Michigan lost its only match last weekend, a 6-1 decision to Ball State. The Cardinals had already clinched the match and led 6-0 when the Broncos' Audrey Smitek won the super-tiebreaker from the No. 6 court to avoid the match sweep. WMU's two conference wins came against Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois.
WMU will play Buffalo on Friday afternoon before hosting Toledo on Sunday afternoon at the Sorensen Courts/ West Hills Athletic Club.
