Rockets Sweep Men’s Tennis Player of the Week Awards

TOLEDO, Ohio – For the third time this season, junior Pawit Sornlaksup was named Mid-American Conference Men's Singles Player of the Week, while Sornlaksup and partner Krzysztof Wetoszka were named Doubles Team of the Week. The league announced the honor on Tuesday before conference play begins this weekend.

Toledo (8-3) ended its non-conference schedule with a 5-2 victory over Purdue on Feb. 26, for its first win over a Big Ten team this season and its third-straight victory this season. Sornlaksup and Wetoszka clinched the doubles team point from the No. 1 court for their third-straight win together.

Sornlaksup went on to defeat Daniel Labrador in three sets from the No. 1 court to secure his 31st-straight singles match dating back to January of 2022.

Sornlaksup was named MAC Singles Player of the week on Jan. 19 and Feb. 16, and now has seven weekly honors on his career resume.This is the first doubles team recognition for Sornlaksup and Wetoszka.

Toledo will open up conference play at Ball State on Saturday, March 11.
