Rockets Head to Buffalo Before Hosting Bowling Green in Battle of I-75 Match on Sunday

Toledo enters weekend ranked No. 63 in nation and with 3-0 MAC record
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team will put its four-match winning streak and undefeated Mid-American Conference record on the line when it travels to Buffalo, NY this Friday, March 31, to take on Buffalo. The Rockets will then head back home to host Bowling Green in the annual Battle of I-75 presented by Cooper Tires on Sunday, April 2.
Saturday's match is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and Sunday's match is at 1:00 p.m. The location for Sunday's match is still to be determined based on the weather. The match will be streamed live on the BCSNÂ Now app and wil lbe shown on replay.
About the Rockets
The Rockets are coming off a huge weekend, winning their fourth-straight match to improve to 11-3 and 3-0 in MAC play. Toledo swept Northern Illinois a in DeKalb, Ill. before dethroning the reigning MAC Champions Ball State 5-2 at home on Sunday.
Cassie Alcala clinched both match points for the Rockets this weekend from the No.1 court and has now won her last nine Mid-American Conference matches, dating back to last April. Alcala, Sanjana Tallamraju (No.5) and Shalini Tallamraju (No.3) all extended their individual winning streaks to four matches, while Sloane Teske has won her last three matches from the No. 2 court.
For the fourth week in a row, Toledo is ranked among the top-75 tennis programs in the ITA Division I Women's Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point, moving up to No. 63 this week.Â
About Buffalo
Buffalo earned a split over the weekend, losing to Ball State and snapping its eight-match win streak on Friday. The Bulls got back in the win column after defeating NIU on Sunday afternoon to improve to 16-4, 2-1 in MAC play enter this new week of competition. Baska Akbas registered the lone singles win for the Bulls against the Cardinals, and won vs. the Huskies from the No.3 court to remain 7-0 from that spot.
About Bowling Green
Bowling Green lost for its matches in MAC competition over the weekend, falling to Miami and Eastern Michigan. The Falcons have lost their last four matches since the non-conference finale with Oakland on March 18. Leticia Fonseca won her 10th-straight singles match from the No. 5 court and only match for the Falcons against the Redhawks and Eagles.
BG will play Miami again on Friday before taking the court with Toledo on Sunday afternoon.
