Rockets Distance Runners Open Raleigh Relays

Claire Steigerwald leads Toledo in the women’s 10k with a time of 35:33.02
RALEIGH, NC – The Toledo women's track & field team opened the outdoor portion of its 2022-23 season at the first day of the Raleigh Relays on Thursday evening at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility.
Senior Claire Steigerwald and freshman McKinley Fielding were the first Rockets to run in Raleigh, participating in the 10,000m race. Steigerwald finished in 24th-place with a time of 35:33.02, and Fielding followed in 51st-place with a time of 36:59.41 in her first race of the season.
Two members of the Toledo's men's cross country team also competed in the opening day in Raleigh, in the men's 5000m race. Sophomore Dennis Mutai ran a 14:04.02 and he was followed by Benjamin Otis who crossed the finish line with a PR time of 14:17.02.
The Raleigh Relays continue Friday morning with field events starting at 9:45 a.m., followed by running events at 12:50 p.m.
