Rockets eclipse previous mark by five strokes en route to third-place finish at Falcon Florida Classic
LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – The Toledo women's golf team broke the school record by five strokes on Tuesday en route to a third-place finish at the Falcon Florida Classic. The Rockets finished with a three-over par 867 on the par-72, 6,069-yard Lakewood Ranch and Country Club, five strokes better than the previous mark established at the 2016 Mid-American Conference Championships.
"Setting a program record is very special when you think of all the great players and teams our program has had," Head Coach Jenny Coluccio said. "Team effort sums up this event. Each player contributed to our success as a whole; moving forward as a program takes more than one or two to make these moves happen. I'm very proud of our team. They have put in a lot of work and belief into the long-term process. We will celebrate and let this soak in. The process doesn't stop here. We will use it to build on for the rest of our spring season."
Sophomore Yedam Lee (72-73-69) and junior Angel Hii (71-71-72) led the Rockets with career-lows of two-under par 214. Lee's three-under par 69 today surpassed her previous career 18-hole best by three shots.
Senior Amelia Lee tied for 14th place with a two-over par 218 (73-73-72), and junior Macy Hanus tied for 22nd place with a career-best seven-over par 223 (72-75-76). Junior Cheryl Hong rounded out the Rocket lineup tied for 37th place at 10-over par 226 (71-76-79).
Junior Kaitlyn Natividad competed as an individual and finished in 67th place at 240 (84-77-79).
Toledo returns to action in three weeks when it travels to Covington, La. to compete in the Tchefuncta Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 27-28.
