Rockets locked in three-way tie for first place in MAC standings
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team (21-4, 12-2 MAC) heads to Akron (15-10, 6-8 MAC) this Wednesday, bringing a season-long nine-game winning streak into the matchup with the Zips. Wednesday's game will tip off at 7:00 p.m. and be streamed live on ESPN+.
The Rockets are coming off an 84-64 win vs. Eastern Michigan at home on Saturday which, coupled with Ball State's 84-77 loss to Northern Illinois, puts them into a three-way tie atop the conference standings with Ball State and Bowling Green. Much will be decided over the final two weeks of the regular season as the Rockets will play the Cardinals in Muncie next Saturday, Feb. 25 and the Battle of I-75 presented by Cooper Tires will take place on Saturday, March 4 in Savage Arena. Ball State and Bowling Green will face off on Wednesday, March 1 in the Stroh Center.
Saturday's win vs. Eastern Michigan came in convincing fashion with Toledo leading the game wire-to-wire. The lead grew into the 20's by the midway point of the second quarter and never dipped below 14 as the Rockets secured their ninth straight win and sixth straight double-digit victory.
Toledo's nine-game winning streak is the longest active winning streak in the MAC and its longest since a 12-game streak last season. The Rockets are averaging 77.6 PPG during the streak and holding opponents to 61.4 PPG. They're also shooting 47.8% from the floor and 80.6% from the free throw line. Toledo is jumping on opponents early during its winning streak, outscoring the opposition 339-237 in the first half over the last nine games.
Following Wednesday's game, the Rockets will visit Ball State on Saturday, Feb. 25. They'll wrap up the regular season at home vs. Kent State on Wednesday, March 1 and vs. Bowling Green on Saturday, March 4.
