Rockets Open Spring Season with Trip to Alabama for Hal Williams Collegiate

Two-day tournament to be held on Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 13-14
TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's golf team looks to carry over the momentum from a strong fall when it opens its spring season next week in Mobile, Ala. at the Hal Williams Collegiate. The Rockets will be competing in the event hosted by South Alabama on Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 13-14.

The tournament will be held at the par-72, 7,460-yard RTJ Magnolia Grove Golf Course with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start on Monday and 8:00 a.m. tee times on Tuesday.
The Field
The Rockets are one of seven teams in the 15-team field that are ranked in the Top 75 of Golfweek's rankings:Â No. 5 Illinois, No. 21 Kansas State, No. 49 Southern Mississippi, No. 62 Arkansas, No. 70 Kent State, No. 71 Memphis, and No. 73 Toledo. Also competing in the tournament are No. 78 VCU, No. 101 South Alabama, No. 103 Davidson, No. 114 Louisiana, No. 117 Oral Roberts, No. 125 Texas State, No. 161 Seton Hall, No. 180 Western Kentucky.

The Rockets' lineup will include junior Barend Botha at No. 1, junior Jamie Tofte Nielsen at No. 2, senior NJ Botha at No. 3, freshman Bence Kotel at No. 4, and senior Palmer Yenrick at No. 5. Sophomore Jamie Butler is competing as an individual.
Barend Botha tops the Rockets with a 70.7 stroke average and is followed by Nielsen (72.1), NJ Botha (72.5), Kotel (73.2) and Yenrick (73.6).
Last Time Out
Toledo shattered the program's 54-hole record at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, with its 29-under total surpassing the previous mark by seven shots. The Rockets also set a school record for best 18-hole round with a 16-under par 272 in the final round of the tournament. Barend Botha led UT with a career-best 11-under par 205. NJ Botha also registered a career-best with a seven-under 209. Bence Kotel notched his best round as a Rocket in the final round with a four-under par 68 and finished at two-under par 214.
