Senior Cassie Alcala goes 5-1 in singles and doubles competition in East Lansing, Mich.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Toledo women's tennis team closed out its fall schedule with tough competition against Butler, Gonzaga, and DePaul at Michigan State's Hidden Dual over the weekend in East Lansing, Mich. Senior Cassie Alcala led a group of seven Rockets with a 5-1 combined singles and doubles record.

Alcala defeated her opponents from DePaul in three sets and Gonzaga in back-to-back sets, before falling to a Butler foe in a close three-set thriller. The defending MAC Player of the Year is the Rockets' all-time leader with 82 career singles wins.

Alcala and doubles partner freshman Gaby Rondon were undefeated vs. the Blue Devils, Zags, and Bulldogs.

Both Rondon and sophomore Audrey Moutama compiled 4-2 records. Rondon was the other Rocket to win against Gonzaga by capturing a two-set decision over Ella Nielsen. Moutama collected singles wins over DePaul and Butler as well as two doubles wins with Shalini Tallamraju vs. the Blue Devils and Zags.

UT will be back on the court for the spring portion of the 2023-24 schedule in mid-January with its full schedule to be released at a later date.
