Senior finishes tied for ninth at six-under par

CARMEL, Calif. – Senior Barend Botha registered another Top 10 finish to lead the Toledo men's golf team on Tuesday at the Cal Poly Invitational. The tournament at the par-72, 7,138-yard Preserve Golf Club was the final event of the fall season for the Rockets, who finished in 13^th place competing against a field that included nine programs that appeared in postseason play last year.

Botha tied for ninth place at six-under par 210 after carding a three-under par 69 in today's final round. The Rockets' reigning Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Year now has shot par or better in 14 of 15 rounds this fall.

Senior Jamie Tofte Nielsen tied for 36^th place at one-over par 217 after playing his final two rounds at three-under par. Sophomore Mads Jensen closed out the tournament with a one-under par 71 and tied for 50^th place at four-over par 220.

Rounding out the Rocket lineup were junior CJ van Wyk (T-57^th/222) and senior Palmer Yenrick (81^st/233).

Toledo's next event in the spring will be at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate on Feb. 26-28, 2024.
