Toledo Heads to Akron for First Conference Dual Meet of Season

Rockets and Zips will go head-to-head at 5:00 p.m. in Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's swimming & diving team will be back in action following a week off from competition on Friday, Oct. 27 when it visits Akron for its first Mid-American Conference meet of the season. The meet will be held at the Zips' Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium.
Last Time in the Pool
Toledo won its season-opening meet at Oakland, 167-133, on Friday, Oct. 13. The win was the first for the Rockets over the Golden Grizzlies since 2010, and the first season-opening victory since the 2017-18 season. The Rockets won 10 events, including 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays. Freshman Leah Evans collected two individual event wins, including the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.90 that now ranks No.10 all-time at Toledo. Sophomore Janne Slegers also touched first in the 100 and 200 freestyle races for UT.

Akron won its ninth MAC Championship last season and received MAC Outstanding Swimmer, MAC Coach of the Year and 10 All-MAC honorees. The Zips won the Akron Zips Classic last weekend and broke three meet records in the 200 IM, 800 freestyle relay, and 100 backstroke.
