Toledo Hits the Road for Back-to-Back Dual Matches

The Rockets visit Youngstown State on Friday before heading to Duquesne on Saturday
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team will set out on its first road matches of the 2023 season, beginning with Horizon League Champions Youngstown State on Friday at 1:00 p.m. The Rockets will then cross state lines to visit Duquesne in Pittsburgh, PA on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
About the Rockets
Toledo is coming off a 6-1 victory over the Horizon League's 2022 regular-season champions Cleveland State on Sunday to improve to 2-1 on the season. Junior Cassie Alcala defeated Oihane Vicario to notch her ninth-straight singles victory from the No. 1 court dating back to last April. Senior Sloane Teske defeated Bethany Yauch from the No. 2 court for her sixth-straight dual match victory, also dating back to last April.
About Youngstown State
YSU starts its dual season this weekend with back-to-back matches vs. Toledo and Carnegie Mellon. Last season, the Penguins posted a 13-10 (6-2 HL) record and defeated Milwaukee 4-3 for the Horizon League Tournament crown, its first tournament title since 2018. YSU was then eliminated from the NCAA Tournament in the first round, falling to Virginia 4-0.
Toledo won all three doubles matches and all five singles matches against YSU at the Indoor Rocket Invite on Oct. 28-29. Toledo has a 15-3 all-time record vs. YSU in dual play, with its last victory coming on Jan. 29, 2022, in a 5-2 decision.
About Duquesne
Duquesne will also open its season with two matches at home vs. Cleveland State on Friday before hosting Toledo on Saturday. The Dukes went 11-10 during the 2022 season, with a 3-2 A-10 record. Duquesne fell to Richmond in the opening round of the conference tournament, 4-1. Duquesne is under new leadership this season, Budi Susanto as Director of Tennis for the men's and women's programs.
Toledo's last match against Duquesne was a 6-1 victory, and improved its all-time record to 10-7.
