Toledo Continues Home Slate with Match vs. Cleveland State on Sunday

Rockets and Vikings will take the court for the second time this season
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team welcomes Cleveland State to Twos Athletic Club this Sunday, Jan. 22. The Rockets (1-1, 0-0 MAC) and Vikings (0-0, 0-0 Horizon) will take the court at 1:00 p.m.
About the Rockets
Toledo shut down Army, 7-0, in its season-opener last weekend. This was the Rockets' first-ever meeting with the Black Knights, who are a consistent NCAA qualifying team. The following afternoon, Toledo suffered a 5-2 setback to Michigan State to a split in its 2023 season opening weekend. Junior Cassie Alcala and senior Sloane Teske won in their weekend matches and remain unblemished from the top two courts. In dual play,  Alcala has won her last eight singles matches since April 4, 2022, while Teske has won the last five singles matches since April, 24, 2022.
Alcala received her Mid-American Confrere Singles Player of the Week nod on Thursday thanks to her performance last weekend.
About Cleveland State
Cleveland State was selected to finish second in the Horizon League Preseason Poll, and enter the 2023 season as reigning Horizon League Regular 2022 Season Champions. The Vikings finished the 2022 season 13-11 overall record including an unbeaten 6-0 conference record, and fell to Milwaukee 4-1 in the Horizon League Championship semifinals.Â
Sunday's match will be the second time Toledo and CSU have gone toe-to-toe this year. The Vikings visited the Glass City during the Rockets' Fall Invitational on Oct. 28-29. The Rockets dominated the court, winning all three doubles matches and five singles matches. In dual season, Toledo has the upper hand of the 17-3 all-time against over CSU, picking up the most recent victory (5-2) on Feb. 18, 2022.
CSU will face Valparaiso on Saturday before traveling to Toledo on Sunday afternoon.
