SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Toledo men's cross country team had eight runners compete in Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational on Friday afternoon, and all eight set personal-best times. Sophomore
Geoff Howles led the Rockets with a ninth-place finish in the Men's Open 5-mile race at the Burke Golf Course.
"The men ran really well today," said men's head coach
Nick Stenuf. "This is a big confidence boost for the men that ran today and the rest of the team that was back home training. We are in a really good spot and focused on showing what we can do as the season progresses."Â
Howles finished in the top-10 with a time of 24:41.1 for the Rockets in his first 5-mile run of his Rocket career. Toledo's other top runners were seniorÂ
Jonathon Hrivnak (25:28.4), seniorÂ
Cooper Losey (26:05.5), seniorÂ
Kassim Kibet (26:20.8), and sophomoreÂ
Gavin Lammers (26:38.0).
Toledo will take a couple of weeks off to prepare for Wisconsin's Nuttycomb Invite on Friday, Oct. 14 in Madison, Wisc.
