TOLEDO, Ohio – Junior Barend Botha carded an even-par 71 to lead the Toledo men's golf team in Tuesday's final round of the Inverness Intercollegiate. The Rockets finished the 54-hole event in 11th place with a 37-over par 889 (297-296-296).

"That was as challenging as it gets in college golf, or for that matter tournament golf altogether," Head Coach Jeff Roope said.  "It was a real battle out there when you consider the difficulty of the golf course, the rain, the wind, the temperatures, and the high level of teams competing the last two days.

"I was proud to see the way our guys fought through the challenging holes today, especially the stretch from 2 to 7, and then manage to capitalize on holes that provided more opportunity. I had a game plan and the guys did their best to adhere to it, which was nice to see."

Botha tied for 20th place in the individual standings at six-over 219 (76-72-71) and rebounded from being four-over par through his first 10 holes by birdieing holes 10-12 to finish his round at even-par

Senior Palmer Yenrick tied for 33rd place at eight-over par 221 (71-78-72) and also rallied down the stretch. He was three-over par through eight holes before closing out his round at one-over par.

Sophomore Jamie Tofte Nielsen tied for 38th place at 222 (72-73-77), while freshman Bence Kotel (78-76-79=233) and senior NJ Botha (82-75-76=233) tied for 78th place.

No. 8 Texas Tech successfully defended its title from 2019 by finishing at one-over 853, six shots in front of No. 6 Georgia Tech and 10 ahead of No. 4 Oklahoma. The Yellowjackets' Christo Lamprecht earned medalist honors at seven-under 206 and was one of four individuals to finish under par at the par-71, 7,265-yard Inverness Club.
