Rockets Topped by Sun Devils, 5-0

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Toledo women's soccer team closed out its non-conference schedule with a 5-0 loss to Arizona State Sunday evening. The Rockets are now 1-4-2 heading into conference play this week.

Arizona State struck early with a goal at the 10th-minute of play and added one more just before halftime to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room. The Sun Devils added three more goals and the Rockets could not overcome the deficit.

  • 10'| GOAL Kerri Matthews passed the ball to Ava Wright and her shot put Arizona State on the board first.
  • 20'| Karson Hill stopped a straight-on shot from ASU's lead scorer, Nicole Douglas, to deprive ASU of doubling its lead.
  • 33'| GOAL Olivia Nguyen sent a shot from the top of the box just out of reach from Hill to give ASU a two-goal lead.
  • 54'| Douglas went one-on-one with Hill, but Hill denied her shot to the bottom left corner to prevent the first goal of the second half.
