MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Saturday's regular-season finale between the Toledo baseball team and Central Michigan has been canceled due to rain.
The Rockets were leading the Chippewas, 4-1, in the top of the fourth inning at Theunissen Stadium in Mount Pleasant, but after a lengthy rain delay the field conditions were deemed unsatisfactory.
With the regular season officially over for Toledo, it will set its sights on the MAC Tournament, which will begin on Wednesday, May 25 in Muncie, Ind. The No. 3 seed Rockets will face the No. 2 seed Chippewas on Wednesday in the first round at 10:30 a.m. ET, while No. 1 seed Ball State will play No. 4 seed Ohio at 4:00 p.m. ET.
"I told the team last night that we can beat anyone when we play solid baseball," head coach
Rob Reinstetle said. "We are just as talented and skilled as anyone. I'm excited to get to Ball State next week and tee it up. We're playing good baseball heading into the tournament and we can win it if we keep playing the way we have been. This has been a really good year with lots of firsts and records broken. We're all proud of that, but we still have work to do next week."
