TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team will head to the 2022 Women's Tennis Mid-American Conference Championships this weekend in Muncie, Ind. The tournament is hosted by the 2021 regular-season champion Ball State and features a four-team bracket. There will be two semifinal matches on Saturday, April 30 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and the finals will be played on Sunday, May 1 at noon.
The matches are scheduled to be played outdoors at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center. In case of inclement weather, the matches will be moved inside to the Northwest YMCA. The tournament can be followed via Live stats and streamed via ESPN3 (only if the matched are held outdoors).
There has not been a conference tournament in two years since the 2019-20 season was cut due to COVID-19 and no tournament was held in 2020-21. Ball State and Miami shared this year's regular-season title with an 8-2 MAC record. The Cardinals enter as the No. 1 seed, while the RedHawks are the No. 2 seed.
"It was extremely disappointing not to have a MAC tournament last season and so the girls have been working towards this tourney for the past two years," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "We are in a great place and competing so well right now. The players have a lot of confidence in each other."
