TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo softball team fell short to Kent State in a doubleheader at Scott Park on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Flashes opened the afternoon with a 7-4 victory before picking up a 13-2 run-rule victory in the nightcap.
Sophomore Lauren Erickson highlighted the Rockets' offense in Game One with two hits, including her fourth home run of the season, and three RBIs. Senior Aubrey Reed also added one hit and one RBI.
Anna Dixon had two hits in Game Two, while sophomores Jenna Kroll and Molly Ryan added one hit and one RBI apiece. Ryan's hit was her second homer of the season.
Kent State's Andrea Scali picked up the opening win allowing four runs on six hits, throwing a complete game. Jessica LeBeau allowed two runs on six hits in Game Two and picked up the win through five innings of work.
"I just told the seniors afterward that this season doesn't define their careers," Head Coach Joe Abraham said. "They have been great girls, great students and have had a ton of success in their careers here. We're going to try to finish with some wins down the stretch, but whatever happens, Bri, Dayna, Raelyn and Makenna have been great Rockets and a credit to our program and the university."
Toledo and Kent State will be back for one more go-around tomorrow at Scott Park. First pitch is scheduled for noon with streaming on ESPN3 and broadcasted locally on BSCN.
