TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's tennis team welcomed Wayne State Friday afternoon in its home opener dual but ended up on the short end of a 4-3 decision to the Warriors.
"This team came to our building and punched us in the mouth," head coach
Al Wermer said. "They were definitely better than us – at least they were tonight. These situations will help us in the long run."
Toledo came out strong in doubles competition, with 6-4 wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. During singles competition, Wayne State took four of the six courts for the 4-3 win over the Rockets.Â
The Rockets are back in action to face Big East opponent Marquette and and Missouri Valley foe Illinois State on Feb. 18-19 in Milwaukee, Wis.
