TOLEDO, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference released its postseason women's volleyball awards on Saturday and junior outside hitter Taylor Alt was named First-Team All-MAC.
This is the third first-team all-conference selection for Alt, who was already the only player in program history with multiple first-team accolades. Her three all-league awards match former Rockets DeSeana Williams (1991-93) and Kassie Kadera (2009-11) for most career All-MAC distinctions in school history.
Alt has been arguably the top player in the MAC all season, leading the league in kills (4.02/set) and points (4.63/set) for nearly the entire season. She is the only player in the MAC averaging more than four kills per set. Alt has cracked double digits in kills in 22 of Toledo's 29 matches and has five matches with at least 20 kills, three of which have come during MAC play. She has five double-doubles as well, and earned a MAC West Offensive Player of the Week honor on Oct. 17.
Earlier this season, Alt became the 11th player in program history to reach 1,000 career digs, and she enters play this weekend ranking seventh all-time with 1,181 career terminations. Her career average of 3.99 kills/set is the highest in school history.
Alt and the rest of the Toledo women's volleyball team opens MAC Tournament play on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 4:30 p.m. in Muncie, Ind. The No. 5 seed Rockets will battle No. 4 seed Central Michigan.
